There is great news for niche companies who are not among the Forbes’ Fortune 500.  It is now possible to have your website on the first page of search engine results without spending millions on advertising.

Actually, “according to a recent study, companies who target niche consumers online spend significantly less in advertising dollars per month than those who appeal to the masses.”  Search Engine Optimization is replacing mass media tactics and at a lower price, which is beneficial during the current economic downturn.  Furthermore, companies have the “ability to track how each ad dollar is spent.”  Being able to track a company’s Return on Investment (ROI), helps the company determine where to spend marketing and advertising funds and even how much to spend.

By “spending smaller amounts of money, the company can target a smaller amount of people who have a greater interest in your product,” which is ideal for a small to mid-size company.

If Marion hosts your company email, this “Summer Cleaning” tip is for you.  Because your e-mail is likely the most common form of communication used in your office, you may get a message telling you that your mailbox is full. Don’t sweat it! Go online to your Smartermail account and simply clean out your box.  If you’d like, just forward the message on to Marion, and we’ll do the cleaning for you!

Also, be sure you are using an email client such as Outlook, Eudora, or Thunderbird to view your email.  Copies of your email should be deleted from the server or automatically remove after a selected number of days to ensure plenty of space remains in your inbox.  If you have questions about what steps to take, we are happy to help.

The Marion Group would like to introduce some new faces…

Betsy Chambers joined The Marion Group as an Account Manager in May 2008. Her professional background is in hotel corporate catering sales.  She has a bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Business Administration as a part time student at the University of Houston. Her motto is work hard, play hard.

Jessica Neely, one of the newer Marion faces, is a recent graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations.  She was a national member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and truly enjoys her craft.  Jessica is currently the Writing and Marketing Assistant and proud to call Marion home.  Jessica feels fortunate that she can utilize her education and continue to grow within the industry.

Jonathan Berleth has recently joined The Marion Group as an Account Manager.  Jonathan is a graduate from The University of Houston where he studied Marketing and Economics.  He is passionate about helping customers achieve their goals and does so through experience, open communication and a focus on excellent service!
