Online Population Explosion!

According to ClickZ Network, the worldwide Internet population in 2004 is at 934 million. Here is how they project future growth:

2005 - 1.07 billion
2006 - 1.21 billion
2007 - 1.35 billion

The amazing thing is that today, 712.51 million are non-English speaking! That’s about 75%. And the vast majority of those millions use native language search engines to look for products and services. This is a huge increase since the early days of the internet in 1996.

It stands to reason, that if you are looking for growth for your products and services and they lend themselves to international trade, you need to be on those native language search engines. But how? There are two possible ways:

Case 1 Translate your entire site into language of the target market, which could be expensive, but most effective if you have dozens of keywords. Then submit your entire site to the foreign language search engines.
Case 2 Create a single landing page for each foreign language you are targeting and submit them to the respective foreign language search engines, but keep the rest of your site in English. The single landing page summarizes the nature of your business and your value proposition in the keywords of the target country. This is most effective if you have only a few keywords.

Either way, The Marion Group can extend your international reach.

What Are Your Site Visitors Looking At Anyway?

Imagine this is your Home page. The path traced by the red line is the typical path the eye follows on a web page. What will a visitor see on your Home page?

A preliminary study done by Eyetrack lll Project on the path a visitors' eyes follows when on the Home pages of news sites, has relevance to any site. Take a look at the simplified eye movement pattern at the right.

Noteworthy observations:

The upper left is where most eyes look first and spend some time.
Large type promotes scanning; smaller type encourages focused viewing.
Left side dominance – the first couple of words of any headline or paragraph have to be real attention getters
Hot spots on lower portions of page can happen if the headline is sharply written.

Navigation at the top of the page worked best and even better if it is on the right side.

  Shorter paragraphs work best.
Story information about processes or procedures seemed to work best when text and animation are combined.

For complete story, see Eyetrack lll Project.

Unity Goes for "Unity"

The Marion Group has been working with the Unity Church of Christianity in Houston to bring “unity” and consistency of their image to communications in all media. We have featured the logo in this newsletter before. The logo was the first step in the makeover process. Now that process has extended to a newsletter template, website template and now a brochure.

Here are examples of the work:

Builders Preview Finished Homes to Clients Before the Lot is Cleared

3-D Illustrations and animations are a great way for builders to show clients how their home will look outside and in, while still in the drawing board stage. All we need are the blueprints and exterior drawings. Clients can even work with their interior designers to incorporate any detail of interior or exterior design, including the actual landscaping, furniture, floor and wall treatments, art, drapery treatments, rugs and anything else you can image. The final rendering will show a 3D image of how the new home will look with all the interiors and exteriors finished exactly the way the clients want them.
