Logo
design is the first building block in constructing your
corporate identity, image and brand. A logo's design is
also the first impression your customers have of your
company. For that reason alone, it is important that your
logo design attracts attention, captures the essence of
your business in a simple glance and leaves a lasting
impression.
Over time, as you
build your identity and
brand, customers will associate the qualities
of your
company with your logo.
"As
the symbol of a company, a logo acts as a shortcut
or a bookmark to the customer's mental list of perceptions
about that company."

Now,
take a moment and glance around your office or home.
How many logos do you see? And what do these logos mean
to you? You will note that logos are conveying more
than just what the product or service the firm provides.
If you look at a computer logo, the logo and branding
represents more than just a computer. The logo and branding
conveys a message about the computer product and the
company associated with it. As a symbol,
the logo conveys the quality of their products; you
remember your experience with company, the quality of
their service and whether or not you would order from
them again.
The
Logo Design Process
The Marion Group has more than twenty five years experience
in creating effective logo designs and branding
campaigns
for our clients. For us, it's more than just putting
something pretty down on the page. We get inside
your
head and your business. We discover what your company
does, what it does well, what your company culture
is
all about and what your business values are. We discover
your passions and key drivers in your business.
And
we look at what your competition is doing, and what
look and feel they are trying to achieve.
After
we gather this information, we start a process of mocking
up ideas from as many angles as possible. Sometimes
the logo process is so obvious. The companies' products,
services, values and business practices scream out
and demand a look to convey the message. Other times,
it's much more developmental, and the customer develops
the concepts as we go through the process.
"Sometimes
clients just don't know what they want, and until
they see it, they can't express what their likes
and dislikes are. We understand this and work
very patiently with clients to give them multiple
renderings"
-
Aaron Ellisor, President, The Marion Group
Once
we have many choices to view, the customer can then
communicate the direction they feel best conveys
the perception/branding of the company. We typically
will go through
3 to 4 rounds of revisions and development
to achieve a successful logo.
After
the logo is developed, The Marion Group will
show the customer how this new mark will be
used on stationery, signage, print advertising,
web, and promotional products. The new logo
will be the launch pad for everything the business
does. The logo affects the look and feel of
everything. And with the proper implementation,
the logo continues to get stronger over time.

Revitalize
an Existing Logo
If
you feel that your logo design does not convey who you
are, consider giving it a makeover. The new design does
not have to be totally different, but can grow out of
your existing logo. That way you retain what you have
already invested in your brand and with a new look,
show the world a new contemporary you. A revitalized
logo can invigorate you, your employees and your business.
The
Cost of a Successful Logo Design
"I
like to make a comparison of what a company will spend
on creating the right look and feel for their company
vs what they spend on logo design.
Many
of us look for just the right office space, the perfect
interior
design, the right receptionist to greet our customers.
We spend money to buy the right business attire to impress
our customers, find the best restaurants to entertain
our customers, and invest heavily in finding the right
media
to advertise
our products and services. A logo is
a critical part of this equation for success. You logo
or corporate identity speaks volumes
about your business, who you are, what you do, and how
you do it. It is therefore
important to put the appropriate investment into your
logo design."
